For those of you that missed it.
The Mrs. E. L Burgess Challenge Trophy retired by Rock-A-Bye Lady and Anne Daugette in 1971 is posted already
on page 1 of the Alabama Mississippi Memories section of The Barn Office. All of the prior winners of the trophy are also listed there.

All great photos. I missed the one on the previous page of Vic Thompson & Jack Johnson getting Rock-A-Bye & Ann ready for the show ring. I especially like that one because it shows action "behind the scenes".
I know that feeling where one person is adjusting the stirrups, another is wiping the dust off your boots and yet another is adjusting the curb chain or tail brace. Brings back feelings of excitement and maybe even a little anxiety. That photo captures those feelings perfectly and they are surely etched into my memory.

You won't find a shot like that anywhere but here, and I thank you for posting it! thumbs up

Nobody takes the time to make sure everything is just right anymore, half of todays trainers even show in dirty boots...back then it was SHOW Business now it's just business. Thanks for posting great behind the scenes pix. Also Mr. Sensations name on Am. Trophy.

Amen - Deedy - Razor actually sent me the picture of the "Mr Sensation" trophy to forward to you - but I told him that you rarely used your cell phone and I promised to show it to you and then I forgot ---- sorry.

Dutch,
Anne and Rock-A-Bye made their last show at the Dixie Jubilee in Baton Rouge in November of 1971.
The year before Rock-A-Bye and Burt Daugette had won the Amateur stake there to retire the Kay Mcfarland-
Midnight Secret Challenge trophy. In their last show Anne and Rock-A-bye won the Amateur mare class.

Rock-A-Bye died in her stall at Vic Thompson's in June of 1972 of a twisted intestine. No telling how many more Celebrations she
could have won.

What a great legacy. Probably never to be equaled. Did Anne show any other horses after Rock-A-Bye?
