I'm awarding Rooster & Rhonda the coveted WHT BLUE RIBBON for their great efforts in photographing their trail ride in the Big South Fork. I don't think anyone could have done any better, including myself!

Although, the scenery and weather really help make a great photo, it is evident that great thought and care went into making these. These are not just point and click shots. I can tell subject matter was carefully chosen and the shots were framed creatively. In addition, I like how the series sort of tells a story of their trip. I think Rooster has done a little photography in his day, that's what I think!

Anyhow,

Thanks again Rooster & Rhonda. I really enjoyed these as much as any of the current photos that have been sent in and I've already gone back to view them again and again and again. I'm sure when the cold winter winds start blowing later this year, these photos will be a great thing to revisit.

MM, not sure about the leaves I think most of them were oak. Just what ever was handy when we got hit by a swarm of flies, they were terrible in some places and not bad at all in others. We have tried every kind of spray we have ever heard of, but none of them work 100%, I think Piranha , is the best. Does anyone have a better recommendation for fly control other than 32 degrees? We are done riding until it gets cold!

Thanks for the Blue ribbon Smitty, I'm happy to share our photos with our friends on WHT, I have more I can send if you like, when I have little more time. Hey Smitty, that bear was getting a little close!!!! Hope ever one enjoys these photos as much as we enjoyed BSF, we highly recommend it to all you trail riders out there!!!

Smitty, I agree.
More pics have been added and I felt the peace and tranquility just perusing the pics....wish I had been along for the ride...But that would have spoiled the peace and tranquility...LOL
Rooster and Rhonda deserve a victory pass with that BLUE ribbon!!!

I'm going to leave these pics up all week and move them to the "Pleasure & Trail" Topic on Sunday.
Rooster & Rhonda do a lot of riding in the winter time in North Georgia. As you can see, some beautiful country here as well.

Rooster I haven't seen anybody do that since my G'pa! He would stick a branch in the headstall like that when the flies started bothering his plow horse. Big old Belgian.... I'd follow him all day in the fields to get to take the horse to the barn.

Carol, both of our horses, will stand perfectly still and let you put all the leafy limbs you want on their heads , they understand that it helps. We use fly spray, but it does not work 100% we even cut a long limby fly swat and you can smack either Elvis or Cait and they don't jump at all, they have goten use to the fly killing drill. But we are through riding until cooler weather, I love riding in cold weather so much better. Are you related to the Gary or Larry Edwards, I use to see them all the time at Ga. walking horse shows in the 60's and 70's??

Rooster you and Rhonda sure look good out there on those trails. There's a nice place on down Whitesburg Ga way, sorta southwest of Atlanta. A nice Reserve....... we hosted ACTHA trail ride there.

Anyway, no, I'm not kin that I know of to Gary and Larry. I came from N. C., got out of the military here and just stayed. I got to watch the Edwards boys show this past weekend.

Happy Trails

Music for the Trail

Now, here's something novel...........a radio station for all you cowboys & cowgirls out there. Some great riding tunes on here and you can listen to them on your computer, iPod, iPhone or other devices. Cool

This was taken last week, actually while I was ridin the Green River (a tributary of the Buffalo River and it's green). I've never been much on organized rides, but enjoyed my three days at The Buffalo River July ride. We took it easy with the horses, and "Harry" was dispensed several tubes of paste electrolytes. An ER physician and trauma room nurse, were camped beside me...so I felt safe incase of a heat stroke. I was only diagnosed with poison ivy.

Looks like a nice ride, OHM. I've heard of the Buffalo..........but not the Green.
Supposed to be some good canoeing and smallmouth fishing there.
