Pat Ireland, who I believe is one of our members here, posted this photo on the WHT Facebook page.

Pat said...

"I thought I would post this OLD photo of me on Midnight Sun. This was taken in August of '65 shortly before he died in November. Man was I proud of that ride!"

Ole Sun would have been 25 in that picture. I remember Bill Harlin saying that when Fred Laws passed away in 1964, his Dad, Wirt Harlin, predicted that Sun would die within the year. Fred was the only man to groom Sun after he arrived at Harlinsdale and they had a bond as close as was possible between a man and a horse. After Fred died, Sun began to colic every few months and before a year had passed he was dead.

Here's some really nice old photos sent in by WHT Facebook member, Emily Singleton Magnuson.

Emily said...

"My daughter Julie showing Lead Line....she was 2...summer of 1976 in Shelbyville."
