| Sadlbum,
Great articles. I especially enjoyed the one on Midnight Mack K. I used to have an ole Mack K horse years ago. Learned a lot of stuff I didn't know, but didn't have anything to add at the time. Keep in mind that many folks read the good stuff you post. I've learned over the past two years that the board can't keep going full steam ALL the time..........you just have to keep plugging away and take it as it comes. Sometimes we get busy or our fingers get lazy. Keep up the good work!

| It mentions in the Mack K article that he had great grit and determination and didn't know the meaning of the word "Quit". My old juvenile horse from years ago was by Mack K's Drummer Boy who was a son of Mack K. He looked a lot like him and definitely didn't have any quit in him whatsoever. | |

| All the Mack K horses I ever worked around had plenty of guts and stamina. When I was a young'un I worked with Don Galloway and we had a mare named Kay's Mack K.She was a hell of a mare and won a ton of ribbons but boy was she ill.Talk about mare temperment.LOL | |

| McDonald Chief, I believe, was bred just outside of Lexington, Ky just off Paris Pike in the community of Muir. He was the ASB sire of Giovanni, who was bred in Woodford County where I live. I have tried to find out exactly where he originated here, but haven't had any success.
Where in the world is Culleoka, Tennessee???

| Smitty, I bleeve Giovanni was by Dandy Jim & out of Francesca. Culleoka Tennycee is in Maury (murry) county. Between Lewisburg & Columbia, on the old hwy & on the RR. Its one of those little towns like Kelso, Flintville, Gassaway & NorMandy that the automobile made a ghost town. | |

| You are right, Sadlbum. McDonald Chief was Giovanni's grandsire. | |

| I believe Midnight Sun traces back to Brown Hal on his dam's side. Frog legs ain't easy to come by if you gotta go out and gig them and clean them yoself. | |

| MIB...That's correct
BD...Frog legs were a delacasy where I came from, although I never cared for 'em. My grandpa and brothers did alot of frog gigging. Sometimes, I believe my brothers spent more time drinking cold ones instead of gigging. No telling how many legs, my mother and grandma fried over the years.

| S B, Thanks for these post. I remember Bill Sledge when he was down here working for Guy Whitner but I didn't remember him working for Larry Cooper and Jimmy Gray. Triple Threat had a long and interesting career. | |

| SB,
I really enjoyed the articles on Mack K, Pride of Panola & Triple Threat, three of my all-time favorites. It sounds like you were a little grumpy a few days ago. Hope your mood has improved since then.
I talked with Bill Sledge's sister, Alice Givens, yesterday. She said both she & Harold Dean had suffered broken bones this winter & still were recuperating.

| Deltaboy, Hope you had a good trip & have a good vacation. I don't want to keep posting things, if they're not read. Just because hits add up, that doesn't mean that they're read & appreciated. The only way, I'll know to carry on, is by comments created by the pictures. We are down to 3 calenders, so we need to meet for lunch sometime, so I can return them to You. Call & let me know after you get back. Have you seen the Vida Blue video? Tell me later what you think if you want to. | |

| Ebony's Senator was owned by Gamble Farms at the time he died, he may be buried there. Bold Courier was/is owned by Mike Thomas, and I think he was maybe in East Tennessee. I know True Grit was standing at Vic Thompson's place at one time, I don't know if he died there. | |
