My vote for Monticello pronunciation is
Mont-ah-cell-ah

I like this way of saying it because I used to live in
Lou-ah-vul
(that's Louisville to the rest of you!!)

Lou-ah-vul is also MOST authentic, although it's pronounced many different ways.

We also have a Paris and London, which are prounounced the same as the European cities.
Also we have an Athens..............pronounced AITHENS.

MIB, I didn't know Eartha Kitt was from S.C, well golly. She sings my favortist Christmas song ever. I was sining it in the store this past weekend. Mr. Grits rolls his eyes, shakes his head and walks the other way. "Santa baby put a sable under the tree, for me, been an awful good girl, santa baby so hurry down the chimney tonight.... :rendeer:

I noticed Boston, KY enroute home from Rood and Riddle this week-end. Seems like Greenwich was on the same sign. Made me think I was in the northeast.

Smitty,
If ye tinks ye live in a state of confusion, consider this. McMinnville is in Warren co., not in McMinn co. Franklin isn't in Frankin co. its in Williamson. Jackson isn't in Jackson co. its at the opp end of the state. This is quite common in Tn. Tullahoma is the only town in the USA with that name. Your town Ono is an Old Testament name. Gamaliel where John Miller had a farm close by was a teacher of the law in the Temple.

Smitty,

I had to type "Jeffersonville, IN" today, but instead typed "Jeffersonville, KY". About that time an old memory popped into my wee little mind. Do you remember a fella by the name of Barry Lykins that showed a really good pony? He was from Jeffersonville, KY over by Stanton.

I remember him. He was showing that pony the same time Dee Dee Miller was showing Shadow's Mr. Magic.

Yes, I remember Barry Lykins and his pony. Can't recall the pony's name right now, but maybe it will come to me. I want to say Go Boy's.......something. I'm thinking he either won a prelim class or tied reserve at the Cel with that little hoss.

I thought he was from West Liberty, Ky.

Batten is correct (misprint). As of a year or so ago, I was told Batman was living off Winchester Rd in Lexington, Ky and working 7 head out at Jumbo's old barn on Paris Pike. That Foxfire horse won the stake at the Ky Celebration one year. He could be a bad little cat at times.

Trainer's Salute: Bill Bailey

Billy Hugh Bailey was born on January 12, 1945. He met his wife Ann during their high school days in Celina, Tennessee and they were married in 1962. After living a while in Celina, they moved to Bowling Green, Ky where their first child, Kevin, was born in 1964 in Glasgow, Ky. They later moved to Morehead, Ky where Bill trained horses for Claude Brown. Their second child Kristi was born there in 1968. In 1969, the Bailey family moved to Russell springs Kentucky where Bill worked horses for Buford Plumbley. They later moved to Louisville, Ky where Bill trained horses for Steve Liddell. It was during this time that Bill trained The Dancing Duke, who won the Walking Pony Championship with Steve's daughter Holly riding. Bill & Ann also had their third child, Kenny while living there. Bill and his family moved back to Russell Springs, where Bill opened his own stables. In 1973, he won the Three=Year-Old World Championship with Threat's Black Power. In 1975 he won the 15.2 & Under World Grand Championship riding Threat's Image. Since that time, he and his son Kevin have successfully trained and shown many great horses including Ebony's Go Go Girl, Delight's Rockabye, Mark Of Delight and many, many more.

Bailey once trained horses at Signal Mtn. just outside Chattanooga. This was when the Voice was in Chatt. I wonder why he don't have that KNOT removed from His JAW?
