Folks used to dress up back then. I'm guilty now of not doing so anymore, as much as the next guy. Do I see Sam Yarbrough in one of the top pixs?

Folks, Steve Hawkersmith is the boy on the black pleasure pony (Little Surprise, Paige showed too). Wallace Brandon with knees bent nearly double on Quarter horse. Shorty Thomas down at bottom. Pam Hawkersmith & Larry Lowman in lawn chairs. Pictures weren't defined.

Readers, The Voice info that has been posted as of lately, came from Mr William Pointers magazines, that I bought from him about 5 years ago. He called me one Sunday night, said he talked to me about 10 yrs earlier at a Murray farm sale. He said he wanted to sell all of his TWH literature. I went to Murfreesboro the next day & bought them. He was/is a real character, first thing he said was that I wouldn't GIP him out of them. I assured him that I wouldn't. Said he had every Voice, I asked when he started taking them, he said in 65, I said It started march of 62. He had around 200, set of stud books, dozen or so 60's & 70's blueribbons, Echo Hoofbeats, Green book & Joe Webb books. I offered him a price & he took it. He made a developer buy his mares to get his farm. He moved into an apartment in town. Haven't heard from/about him since.

Heather D Stables...hummm that brings back memories Deltaboy. I was living in the Scottsdale area when Heather & her folks moved out. She'd heard I was in Arizona. She contacted me and said you need to be here when the horse van arrives, I was and the first horse off the van was Shadow's Red Warrior ( she had purchased him from me years earlier) Long story short...we figured at the time we knew more about Walking Horses than most folks in the area, thus Heather D Stables...I was the groom and ground man. I've still got some of the stationary/cards we had printed up. Thinking it was 1970-71 time frame. The partnership didn't last long...that ended my training days...I look back now and think..What was I thinking...me a trainer what ever gave me the idea I could be a trainer. Heather was fairly good at it.

In response to sadlbum's post of Mr. William Pointer, he is now in an assisted living home in Ocala, Fl. He has a son that lives closeby and comes to visit him often. Ronnie and Irene Spears went to visit my parents a couple of weeks ago (and take in the SECC Basketball Game in Tampa) and they went by and visited with Mr. Pointer. He is doing very well. He has always been such a super person. My horse Gen's Magic Marker (Gradie) that I used to show was raised by him so we always had alot to talk about. He loved his broodmares.

S61, I recently saw Heather D Stables advertised in an old National Horseman that I purchased from Laura L. last year. I must say that I had never heard of that outstanding enterprise. Thanks for filling us in. SB & MW, Mr. Pointer was a great fellow & an outstanding broodmare man. I bought a mare or two from him over the years. I always enjoyed seeing him at the breeding farms or visiting him at his farm. I learned a lot from him.

Can anyone give me the name of the place where MR POINTER is ? I had seats by him for many years, and the last time i called he had moved .Would like to talk to him . I have a little story about him to share. When Generator was becoming very popular he said he didnt like him. Then one year i asked what his foals were by and he said Generator. I said Mr Pointer you said you didnt like him. Then he said YES ,BUT THEY SELL... He bred to Midnight Sun , then Suns Delight. He was a very sharp man in his breeding program, and he raised some good horses.

MarketWatch, Thanks for the info on Mr Pointer. I think he was from Elisbethton Tn. He wasn't kin to Phil Pointer of Como Ms. He made that Developer give 100k for the mares. The day I bought his Lit, he had a nice Springer Spaniel companion. I hope he is doing well. I always thought Ronnie S was a bachelor until he married Irene, but by looking at a mid 60's Voice, I found I was wrong!
