| Good call, MIB. I had that thought but I didn't see any "junk" so I thought it was a mare. At one time I worked for Joe Weaver in the barn that would eventually become Lytle Creek Farms in Murfreesboro and this old horse was there, retired, and running loose with the Parks's broodmares. I think he spent the last of his career as a juvenile horse for Newton. | |

| The horse is Pride's Grand Slam. Rollie beard is the trainer and is standing by his left side. I can't for the life of me remember the rider's name. Maybe it will come after another cup of coffee or someone on here can get the save. | |

| If I'm not mistaken on the Grand Slam photo; that was a win shot taken the day after the horse won the night before. I believe he got overheated in the class and they had vets attend to him immediately. If you look at the shot he is dry and not hot and there is no "gravel dust" on his hooves. | |

| I didn't remember that they did Grand Slam's win shot the next night, but it surely makes sense. That was terrifying to watch...I remember him being iced down in the ring. He was a great little horse! | |

| In the above picture of Atomic Star, he is wearing Rubber Boots. They would have provided no help in action. I am wondering if Ralph had a set of chains under them for the photo shoot. It was pretty common back then to hide chains under boots when they showed. | |
