I've heard of trainers getting commission for both buying and selling horses. I never did know if the new owner paid along with the old owner or what. I always thought that the trainer would charge extra if he showed your horse, like paying some on the gas, motel with the other owners. I really wouldn't have liked the trainer charging me for expenses and keeping the winnings too. I go along with smitty on this, the trainers or most of them needed the extra cash. I would have guessed thata lot of out-of-town trainers really had it hard during the long stay during the Celebration.

Good one Smitty. Boy, Larry and Gary sure do resemble their daddy. That was 61 years ago and the Edwards family has consistently been at the forefront of the Walking Horse industry. Amazing isn't it? And without living in middle Tennessee.

"In this photo from a newspaper article May 1969, is our mare Sun's Blonde Bomber with her twin foals. "Blondie" was by Midnight Sun out of Lady Brooks II. She was a full sister to Sun's Ace of Spades sire of the 1970 WGC Ace's Sensation. The twins were by the 1967 WGC Go Boy's Sundust. Both twins survived and were later sold through the yearling production sale at "The Sale of Champions".

Great post Smitty. Although I have been around the Walking Horse Business for 50 years, I never really knew S.W.
Beech was a successful trainer before he became the leading breeder and argueably the most powerful man in the
Walking Horse Industry for many years.
