| CoCo is correct, Perfections Straw Hat was at Doug Wolavers barn, when the picture was published in the 1970 Blue Ribbon. Would Ola Archer have been in that class too? WHERE THE BLACK BAY STOCKING ENDS AT THE ANKLE, ON THE LEFT HIND FOOT, I THINK THE LIGHT MAKES IT LOOK SORTA STRANGE.

| I don't remember Ola showing much in performance classes; I do remember her showing in pleasure classes though. What do you see on his ankle? | |

| C. Ray Carter is correct. One of the horses is The Operator, but I'm not sure which one.....perhaps the weanling. His wife usually showed as "Mrs. C. Ray Carter" did she not? I'm thinking her first name might have been Ruth, but Im not sure. I'm sure somebody will remember. I think they were nice folks. | |

| Big ED...Ruth (now deceased), was his wife that showed for many many yrs. Weren't they native Virginians and from the Lynchburg area? Same area Ramsey's from.
SB...You got it and we posted at the same time. | |

| SB, I see what you mean; I believe it must be a shadow on his ankle. BTW, thanks for the photo. I looked for that one and couldn't find it anywhere. Brings back great memories of the good old days! | |

| I always enjoyed seeing Ruth show and watching Mr C Ray while she was in the ring....He was so cute, he would rock (deeply) as she cantered. She was a little lady and come to think of it, not sure how she cued her horse to canter??? Guess it was voice command as I don't think she could have bumped with her foot as they were generally cued back them. They were a sweet couple. Didn't she show out of Ronald Young's barn? | |

| Yep I do remember your daddy wearing lots of colorful, possibly plaid pants - after all we were in the 70's. Seems like my daddy never noticed any changes in fashion - I hardly ever saw him in anything other than khaki pants and a manhattan shirt (had to have 2 pockets) and a bird dog whistle hanging around his neck. | |

| I think the horse on the right that Margaret is holding is Shadow's Sterling. | |

| The gray horse is Shadow Sterling Wallace won the 4 yr. geilding class with him and Maraget won the 4 yr old Amt geilding class with him. The mare was Dixie Delight Wallace won the 15.2 under mare class with her. Mr Hubbard bought the two horses about 6 weeks before the Celebration from Wallace. |

| All answers are correct. That's the Hubbards with Wallace Brandon. Couldn't get Shadow's Sterling in this photo, since it was printed across the centerfold. | |

| OHM Your right on the Carters from Lynchburg. I think they owned an office supply company. Russell Davis was also from that part of the state I think. | |

| Ruth Carter rode Scatman's Tomcat I believe. Also rode a little 15.2 horse called "Sparkling Burgandy", but I think he was shown under another name before they got him. Might have been a pony at one time? | |

| Sparkling Burgandy was shown in the pony class after Mrs. Carter by Charlie Brown Merriman. His name was changed to The Cooper Penny and was trained by JT and Marianne. I believe he won the pony class somewhere around 1980 or 1981. | |
