I know Mike's Mighty Delight was reserve behind Bum, but I don't recall him showing as a pony, even though he surely must have been. Was it before or after 1960?

This one's too obscure for anyone to guess easily, but it's really not a trick question. The answer is pretty interesting and I'll go ahead and give it:

Answer: LILY WHITE, the 1939 and 1940 Reserve WGC mare that finished 2cd to Strolling Jim & Hayne's Peacock. Lily White was shown in pony classes in 1938 before she outgrew that class. Her rider was none other than a ten-year-old WALLACE BRANDON.

Where did Wallace Brandon grow up?
Somehow I thought he was from Texas.

Wallace was born in Akron, Ohio. His family moved to Woodbury, Tennessee when he was 4 years old.
He worked in Arkansas for a while as well.

I am pretty sure that the first time I met him (1967) he was in Texas. Not long ater that he bought Hickory Hill Farm.

Little bit of trivia on Wallace Brandon. According to my grandfather, who invented the tail brace, Wallace Brandon was the first person to purchase one when he started selling them. Think it was around 46 or 47.

Wallace did work in Texas and he also worked at Fashion Two Twenty Stables in Aurora Ohio as well.
