| That's right. Hal Mack was a bold-going hoss. | |

| My first Walking Horse memory as a child is sitting in front of Joe Urquhart on top of Hal Mack at Joe's barn on Nashville Hwy in Columbia, TN. I don't remember if he was a nut case, but I do remember the ride. The feel of a good horse is something you can't describe, you can only experience it. All I remember seeing was the top of his legs rising in front of me and having to look around his neck to see where we were going. |

| Thanks for sharing that with us Stats Man. My memory of Hal Mack was seeing Ashley King show him at the Celebration and wishing my juvenile horse could do that.... | |

| I thought that Hal Mack was even better with Mrs. Turrentine before Ashley had him. | |

| Seems like he was owned by someone in KY after Ashley had him. Do you remember anything about that Smitty? Maybe down around Bowling Green / Glasgow way? | |

| Yes, he was in Ky in his latter years, and I saw him show somewhere once. Somebody down around Munfordville trained him. I think he may have been stabled in that red barn on the left as you travel south on I-65. I don't remember who owned him or the name of the trainer. He was still pretty respectable, even in his old age. | |

| On another note, I posted some photos from a LIFE magazine article on here last year. The photos showed Joe Urquhart riding a young horse. That horse WAS Hal Mack, although I don't think I gave his name at the time. Those photos may still be on this forum somewhere, but I'm not sure where to find them. | |

| Ramsey and PJ. On Hal Mack. He spent the early 80's in Virginia. My farrier, Buddy Dixon owned him and showed him a few times a year. He was still a handful to ride at an old age. He was quick and wormy and could scoot out from under you if he wanted. | |

| I don't think that's PJ. He was bay and the picture is not old enough to be Jubilee. May be one of his babies though. The guy on the left is Sam. I think he works for Chad now. He throws a mean set of horseshoes. | |
