Nobody touched this one, but these are all World Grand Champions who FAILED in their attempt to become a JUNIOR WORLD CHAMPION. There may even be some I left off this list. There have been quite a few that never won as Four-Year-Olds. By the same token, there have also been many Junior World Champs that never went on to win the big one. Some interesting statistics there, but I'm too lazy to look em all up!

| OHM, Larry Ross did own Command Performance at one time, as did Laura Brandon and Wink Groover and several others. Don Bridges was the last owner. | |

| One of my best mares is by Jazz Man out of a full sister to Generator's Turbo. I had seen pictures of him but knew very little about him. Anybody know what kind of ties he got at the celebration?
What about the Duke's Elkhorn Ace line? I have seen a number of good horses from this line...Duke's Timbrook, Duke Power...was he from middle Tennessee? Also, Shades of Carbon had a large impact on the Racking horse late in life after being brought to Alabama.

| Smitty, I may be wrong but didn't Carbon Copy win the Big one when he was four. I thought Joe elected to show him in the WGC rather than the Jr Championship. | |

| This is an interesting topic...I'm trying to remember if 1966 or thereabouts was the first year that the 3 year olds did not canter...seems to me that somewhere in that time frame was when they added the 4 year old/Junior classes and I'm thinking that Boyd Hudgens and Man of Rhythm won the 1966 Junior Championship and Betty and Shocker skipped it and went for the Big Stake. Does this seem to ring any bells? | |

| TC, It was in the early 70s when they did away with the canter for 3 y.o.s. 66 was the first year that 4 y.o.s were considered Jr. hosses rather than aged hosses and Shaker's Shocker won the 4 y.o. stud class and skipped the Jr. stake and won the big one. Man Of Rhythm was the WGC Jr. hoss that year.
Big Ed, C C was a junior hoss in 63 and was reserve WGC Jr. hoss behind Go Boy's Black Jack. In 64 C C was considered an aged hoss.

| MIB,
Thanks for the clarification on the canter!! You know what they say about the sixties...if you were REALLY there, you don't remember much, lol.
