| I remember when Ronnie Spears used to ride Gunsmoke's Fireball. He was a good 'un. | |

| The horse in the smaller picture above called Big Shot's Sensation, with Spears riding was later trained by Whitey Whitehead and shown in amateur and stake competition here in Ky. He won a good share of blues. | |

| Probably more than one. I am thinking Ralph Hensley trained in that area once as did Randy Lollis. | |

Another one that I never saw but from what I have read and heard was one of the all time great reserves was Midnight Mack K
And throw in Merry Wilson

| I think you're on the money with those, MIB.......even if they were a little before my time. Midnight Mack K. most definitely belongs in there. Merry Wilson would have been a great champion if not for a greater one called Merry Go Boy.
How bout these: Mr. Sensation, Shaker's Professor, Ebony's Time Around, Reve's Little Boy, The Pushover

| I would exclude horses who later went on to become WGC. Reve's Little Boy was the best in my era (75 - 96). If I had been in the center of the ring that night, he would have had the title "World Grand Champion". Size makes no difference, he beat Mountain Man bad in my opinion. I am partial to a horse that wears the bridle, sets on his a--, lot of motion, perfectly timed, pretty and dosen't go strung out. That being said and politics aside: Know way you could have tied the other horse. | |
