| Ed,
Don't you mean you thought Reve beat Threat's Supreme? Mtn Man tied 3rd behind Reve in '79. If so, I agree completely. | |

| Yea, you're right. My memory ain't what it used to be. I guess The Pusher was reserve to Mt. Man wasn't he. No mater what horse it was, Reve won in my opinion. I think?? I remember it being really rainy and muddy that night. | |

| In 1991, Wired with Bill Bobo up was reserve behind Flashy Pride and Vickie. I am not trying to diminish Flashy and his accomplishments, but to me, Wired was way yonder the better horse that night, and had I been judging, the outcome would have been different. It's too bad Bill didn't have another year with Wired, as he very well could have got it done. | |

| That is right about Bill and Wired. Many years have been used up by Champions (Horses or Riders) that won because "it's his year" or "it's his time" or "he's do". This dosen't leave a lot of time for the others. The champions I liked and I thought truly deserved to be the WGC were: 1975, 1977, 1978, 1981, 1982, 1996. I also like Pride's Final Edition, just can't remember the year he won. The others between 75 and 96 I don't even remember. | |

| Jean is correct on Darrell Waltrip, owning a TWH. I remember Tommy Wilson showing his halter colt named...? LUMINA?. Anyway, the hoss had the same name as his race car. I also recall Darrell's race car being at a few shows. | |

| Jean just got her scanner working and sent me the pic. I'll let her narrate on this one: Darrell & Lumina Bay Also, I found a pic of the car, although I'm not completely sure it's the right one. This one's a '89 Monte Carlo: You can get more info and see some more nice pics of this car at this link: http://www.significantcars.com/collections/royce/rc63/ | |

| The story of this colt in the July 1989 Voice stated Tommy Wilson contacted Waltrip about buying a mare named Powers Ambrosia from Vicki Self & Bobby Beach. She was bred to Ebony Masterpiece a few days before his death. The results was Lumina Bay. | |

| I admit, I'm not a huge NASCAR fan, but I was watching the Daytona 500 in 2001 when Dale Earnhardt hit the wall. Waltrip was a color commentator on that race and I was touched by his concern for Dale right after the accident happened. His voice was shaky and he seemed to be almost in tears. Waltrip aggressively pushed for mandatory head and neck restraints after that race and I respect him for that. | |

| Ritz...No I'm not related to Steve Hill. I owned Hill's Perfection from 1967-1972 (that is close; may not be exact) showing him in Juvenile classes. In 1972 we sold him to Ross Perot and Ross Jr would show him as a Juvenile until his retirement. I believe Hill holds the record for the most Celebration ribbons (and maybe wins??) of any horse in the history of the breed. Steve Hill started him and showed him for several years in the Aged Gelding and Championship Classes; then he changed ownership and was shown in a variety of classes including; Amateur; Ladies; and then Juvenile classes. My and Hill's trainer was CA Bobo. My avatar is a picture of me on Hill's Perfection in 1971 at the Trainer's Show in Nashville; Tn (I am pretty sure I have the date and location right...I remember it was cold as the dickens that night!!!). | |

| Hill I believe held the record for the most Celebration wins for many years but I think Gen's Fire & Ice holds it now. Most of the old records won't hold up because there are so many more classes to show them in now and so many more split classes. In the old days you had to beat every hoss in your division to win a W C, now you only have to beat a few of them. | |

| My Daddy was into racing and Nascar BIG time. He and Jr Johnson were best friends...Jr is my godfather. He was the sponsor of Jrs' first stock car and later when Nascar and Winston Cup took over he was instrumental in the Holly Farms Poultry sponsorship of Jr. It seems that I grew up in the infield of racetracks...we were there every Sunday morning bright and early. We would leave home when it was still dark and I would sleep on the way to the track...and most of the time on the way home (there was a bunch of kids around the my age and we all ran and played until we were drop dead tired!!). Darrell Waltrip was also a friend of my Daddy's and I met him a few times...he and Jr. came to our house to watch a race one Sunday when he was unable to race (I have no idea why he wasn't racing; but I remember watching part of the race with him in our living room). If you remember; Darrell raced for Jr for several years in the '80s. I enjoyed it as a little girl; but as I got older I lost all interest in the sport and the way they run it today; I can hardly see it as a sport?? | |

| Thanks MIB for straightening me out!!! I was pretty sure he did at one time; but did not know if anyone had taken over that honor?? He was a good ole' horse though; wasn't he :) When we were showing we would only show in one "division" per Celebration and pretty much per show season. What I am trying to say is this: I was showing Juvenile; so I would show in my qualifying class (say Juvenile Riders 15-17 year olds up) and the in the Juvenile Championship. When Shirley Sharpe showed him she would show in her qualifying Amateur Geldings and the Amateur Championship. Hill would have a chance at winning two ribbons at each Celebration. Now I may be wrong on Shirley...she may have shown him and Steve Hill also...you may know?? I am pretty sure that Ross Jr and I know I only showed him twice in each Celebration. If you are saying that they are showing the same horse in different classes in the same year; I would think there might be more than one horse that would be capable of bringing home mutiple blues from a single Celebration??? | |

| The 2010 Celebration will offer 183 classes (championships included). I'm showing 63 classes in 1975. Will research this some more! | |

| I remember Lumina Bay as a "show" horse at Landrum's. He wasn't worth two dead flies. Shorty showed him in a groom's class somewhere, maybe Wartrace, and that was as sorry a beast as ever looked through a bridle ! | |
