I did see a few with blankets (in the winter), but these really were popular back then...I wanted one, but Daddy said NO.

LOVE this picture of Rebel!! I remember it now that I see it again; but had forgotten it. In looking back at the photos that I have of Rebel....I can't find any of her and Larry (he showed her as a 4 yr old)...I don't have a good action photo of her and me (I have one decent unretouched; my one "touched-up" photo is not good at all)...many of my Rebel photos are missing; so I love the surprise of finding her on here!! You just can't beat a Les Nelson photo...this is a great picture of her and Joe!!! Although; I don't remember Joe showing her...I remember hearing about Judy showing her??

BD..You were talking about our "heartstring horses"....Rebel was mine. She will forever hold that special place in my heart.

I wonder who did the photo of Shadow's King Cotton and Buddy? The horse doesn't have any boots on (this was before they used chains in photos) and he is doing too big a lick to not have them on...for some reason the photographer did not put them back in after the re-touch?? Did Joe Gibbs also have King Cotton? I think that was the trainer's name..he showed in NC and Va...also had a lit up roan back in the 60's named Sun's Zenith if I am not mistaken. Zenith was a big going horse...I always liked her a lot!! I think CA Bobo also had her at one time.

Was Triple Threat Again as big a horse as he appears to be in this picture?

Hill ,I don't know who did the pic of King Cotton but it isn't a very good pic either in my opinion. This horse was a GREAT White horse and did more in the backend than what this pic shows.I don't remember if Joe had him or not.I do remember Joe and C.A. having Zenith. She wasn't the prettiest mare but that ole heffer could walk.Another one of Mr. Charlie's GREAT mares Sun's Spring Queen.Charlie was a Master with the mares.

What year was the Harlinsdale Sale that is shown? We raised and showed one called Easter's Sun Up.

Excellent article on Steve Hill sent in by twhemt. Might be a bit difficult to read, but maybe you can ZOOM IN.
This article was written by the late Dr. Bob Womack, by the way...

In reading the Tuscaloosa article; I noticed the Arabian winner of two classes was Angelo Storm. I bred a mare to him in the mid to late '70s. He was standing at stud at Jim Fisher's Dixieland Stud in Columbia SC. Jim had a big barn of show and breeding horses. Surprised me to see Angelo's name...I had forgotten about the horse; I guess because I sold the foal as weanling. And also noticed Barry Latham; a TWH friend won one of the Walking Horse classes.

Just wondering what ever happened to the Great mare Go Boy's Black Angel. She was great back in the late 1960's and early 1970's. Did she ever have a foal?
