| MIB; Smitty or Anyone Who May Know...I know I am a little behind (oops); but was wondering if you knew this information...The mare on pg. 32 that Paul Smith is riding; Sun Dust Rebel Maid is a half sister to my mare; Johnny's Rebel Maid...out of the same dam; Sun's Rebel Maid. I read that Sun Dust Rebel Maid and another daughter out of this same mare; Double Midnight; had done well in the show ring...Do you know if either one of them ever won a class at the Celebration? The info I have states that Sun Dust Rebel Maid won the mare class at Baton Rouge and many other top Southern Shows (year??..not sure but prior to '72) and Double Midnight won the Columbia Spring Jubilee and placed high at the Celebration (year??..prior to '72). I was wondering if either one went on to do more?? and if they produced any show quality foals?? | |

| Hill,
I was not aware that mare was a half sister to yours, nor do I have any further info on the mare. Sorry. Maybe someone else will know more. | |

| Smitty...I was thrilled to see the picture of Sun Dust Rebel Maid!! I had recently read about her and Rebel's other half sister in an old Voice article. I didn't know I was going to luck up and see a picture of her though...one of the MANY benefits of being a member of WHT!!! | |

| Hill, I don't recall Sun Dust Rebel Maid ever winning at the Celebration but she was a top show mare and won more than her share. Sandy Hawk used to show her as well as Paul Smith and another trainer from East Tn. whose name escapes me at the moment. She only had one foal, a filly by Sun's Delight but I dont recall her as a show horse. Mr. Hawk did raise a good many foals from her. | |

| MIB...Thank you for the info. I remember the mare but had forgotten her name..I remember Sandy showing her. I love finding this kind of info on any of the horses that we owned. I missed out on the breeding/foaling part of the TWH industry and I hate that I did. This is what I did with the Arabs and I loved it. Something I learned was the importance of studying bloodlines/pedigrees and the importance of crossing the right mare with the right stallion. I would liked to have known this during the years I was showing...I would have SO loved to have bred TWH during those years!! | |
