Winston Wiser is the correct answer, winning it 5 times; a record that still stands. Wiser won it once on Black Angel, Twice on Merry Go Boy and Twice on Go Boy's Shadow.

Too bad Billy never had a chance to win it with Ritz.............he could have tied Winston's record.

I'm pretty sure Bud Seaton started Another Masterpiece. I think he also started or had at one time a bunch of the WGC. Ebony, Another , True Grit (i think), Threats Supreme. Can anybody name others?

As a weanling Merry Go Boy was the winner of the Weanling Horse Colt Class at the 1943 Celebration during a morning showing. Three classes later, he was reserve to the weanling filly, Frances Langford, in the Weanling Championship. This was the only time he was defeated in his class during his lifetime.

It does say later that he was defeated by Midnight Sun also, but I think those are the only two horses to ever beat MGB, if I'm not mistaken.

The key words are "in his class". Midnight Sun is older than Merry Go Boy. Go Boy competed against Midnight Sun in the '46 Stake class when he was a three year old and won the Junior Stake. The next night he entered the Big Stake and tied Reserve to Midnight Sun.

And he was sho nuff right - HOWEVER - I had a litter of Brussels Griffons in the 8-'s by one of Dr Boshells top winning dogs - and there was one puppy in the litter that was NOT RIGHT - I mean WAY not right -she looked more like a bad cockapoo than a Griffy - she weighed close to 20 pounds and I kept her for 15 years and loved her to death - looks don't mean everything - but they do in the dog show ring!
