| Ace's Sensation had a great marketing plan...they published his showring schedule at the beginning of the season and posted the results as a tally after each show. Presumably prior to judge announcements/ I don't remember anyone else having done that.... | |

| So....Baton Rouge....1970....I had just worked my mare (Ebony's Melody), had taken her back to Jack's (Warren) barn, and was sitting on the fence watching horses work in the barn hall. Wink was working Ace and of course there was a crowd. He pulled up to a stop in front of me and grinned. I looked around to see who he was grinning at, but it was directed at me. He dismounted and motioned to me to come over. With knocking knees that could have been heard in New Orleans, I walked over and somehow managed to get up on THAT horse. I remember riding Ace about 5 trips up and down the hall, and I was sure at that moment, that life couldn't get any better!! What a thrill it was to ride a WGC.....20 years later I got to ride another WGC - Pushover...but we all have to agree...there's nothing like your first time, lol!!!

| How cool was that? You are 2 ahead of me Christie....never ridden ONE! I do have a strand of Ace's Sensation mane hair though...LOL In a locket that I had in high school and Ace carried the flag at the Peach Bowl. My high school band was performing at half-time after winning the competition...Wink was very gracious to a star-struck teen, though I'm sure he thought me silly. A pic of Snowman (my avatar pic and first TWH) on one side and Ace's hair coiled in the otherside of the locket....Amazing at the simple things that make such lasting memories. | |

| Nice story TC! Several of us on here have had the honor to ride a few WG Champs. I was thrilled to have ridden the Pusher once, as have several others on here. ALMOST got to ride Stock, but the TRAINER decided he'd had enough about the time it came my turn in line........(I had only been waiting in line 30 minutes....) THANKS MASON!!!....... LOL! | |

| Smitty, I can imagine your feelings at being CUT OFF from riding Stock. To my dying day I will always remember the stake class at the 1977 Celebration. The THIRD workout...Super Stock was flawless....incomparable...just flat out amazing...what incredible stamina...so...if I had waited in line as long as you to ride him, I'd be ticked too! Tell Mason I said shame on him! Also tell him I said "HI". | |

| Molly...I was such an Ace fanatic that I begged my Mother bo breed Sun's Cover Girl to him. They produced Undercover Ace who to my foggy memory never even got a ribbon! Not unlike alot of our forays into the "grow our own" arena. We had better luck in the "pay too much money and pray for a ribbon" endeavors! | |

| Mason still reads this board occasionally, so he will see your post. I didn't even know him at that time, but met him several years later. Stock was one of the TOP horses to win that thang IMHO and you are so right about his performance that night. Dominating! Still meet up with David and his wife Janet once or twice a year when he comes up for the Saddlebred shows. Good folks and Mason is still Mason. Der Masons!

| Been there and done that, too.
Ahhh, but I believe you managed to have some WC stock there Christie! Maybe I need your prayer line, plus some of that talent!

| Molly, you've got Beeline and a great young trainer, and y'all are out there showing! The sky is the limit! I'm content being retired from the ring, and living in the past on this board!!! | |

| Thanks Christie....being content is good. I've been through fits and spurts with the horses. Still show much less often than in the past, and more multi-faceted in my interests, but still got to have a little horse "buzz". | |

| Smitty, If Mason is still Mason, then all is right with the world! Another Mason story...He sold my Mom a Jack Russell during the 1988 Celebration. She had never raised a puppy before (all ther previous dogs had been rescues), and that puppy became her "dog of a lifetime"...."Smidge" was the canine love of her life....and spoiled rotten! | |

My dad shod horses for Mason from the mid to late 80's. We got a jack russell pup from him the same year. she was a dandy.

| I remember he could wear a bridle and bang that head with that little Tom Thumb bit in his mouth. Seems like I remember hearing he was ill tempered. | |
