| Bubbadog,
You failed to comment on my 3-D photo above. I guess you don't have any 3-D glasses left over from "The Creature's Revenge"......

| Is that a 3-D C A Bobo behind the 3-D horses that merely looked a tiny bit blurred to me? | |

| No, but you can order some glasses from the link listed above..........costs very little.
That's the first 3-D photo I've ever made. It turned out pretty well, I think, but again, you must see it in 3-D to get the "depth" effect. I spent about and hour trying to get it right. You pick a photo with some depth to it, preferably a black & white photo, since they work much better. Then you open it in photoshop and change it into a RGB color photo (red, green, blue) Then you simply offset the red channel to the left by about a eighth of an inch, and the blue and green channels to the right by the same amount. You can see the red and blue "halo" on each side of the horses. When viewed through the blue and red lenses of the 3-D glasses, the "binocular" effect combines them together again and makes them look as if they are standing out from the background. I also separated the horses and Bobo into a layer of their own to enhance the effect....
I'm sure that's all about as clear as mud, but it's really pretty simple.

Answer: According to Dr. Bob Womack in "The Echo of Hoofbeats"; "By 1952 the market was flooded and the Breeders' Board of Directors passed a regulation prohibiting artificial insemination-this was aimed at Harlinsdale Farm's Midnight Sun who was annually earning $100,000 for his owners. The monopoly on breeding by Midnight Sun was breaking the industry's back. Throughout the 1950s the industry disregarded the AI prohibition. The inability of the Association to enforce its own rules revealed inherent weakness."

| On April 3rd, 1974, a tornado ripped off a section of the roof of a horse show arena. What was the name of the arena? | |

| I didn't remember the tornado taking off the arena roof, but Cardinal Stadium sits just a few feet from the arena. The stadium used to be a complete oval until the tornado tore off the north end and deposited it across the highway. The state never built that end back as a tribute to mother nature's power.
OGM,
I'm glad Toots had only minimal damage. We ate there this past Sunday on our way home from Alabama. The Easter Bunny was there!

| I think Sam Paschal exhibited one of his WGCs out there. Maybe Setting Sun or Delight. | |

| The Cow Place just outside San Francisco is CORRECT! Setting Sun & Sam Paschal did an exhibition here after his WGC win. I believe the horse was shipped by rail, if I'm not mistaken. | |

| Merry Boy was the sire of Merry Walker who produced not only Two WGCs in Go Boy's Shadow and Rodger's Perfection, but also a mare who in turn produced another WGC in Mark Of Carbon. Merry Boy also sired Merry Rose who produced the only 3 time WGC Talk Of The Town. He also sired the dams of White Star, Sun's Jet Parade and Ebony Masterpiece. IMO Merry Boy is the clear winner and all other broodmare sires will have to fight it out for second place. | |

| I recently read a 1972 article that quoted Larry Gribble as saying his best mare's had "a high concentration of Wilson Allen blood". In a later article on Larry he agreed with what MIB is saying..."the best cross in the industry was to take a Merry Boy mare and cross her with a Midnight Sun stallion". Sounds like very sound breeding advice to me!! | |
