| Let's reverse the trend. What entry number was Sun's Delight when he and Sam Paschal won the World Grand Championship? | |

| I have stated before on this site that I think he is the best to win the Celebration MIB. We agree on that. | |

| When did the Celebration hit its peak. I still like the Celebration but its numbers are not what it used to be. I think it was the 1970's. | |

| I would say late 60's and early 70's based on what I've seen and read. | |

| You don't see these on the road anymore. These old vans have long been replaced by long trailers and other more "modern" means of horse transportation, but boy didn't they have style? Heads would turn when you pulled into a show in one of these babies. I rode in one of these twice back in the late 1970's...........once to Columbus, Ohio in the cab and once to Indianapolis, Indiana in the back with the horses. I'll never forget those trips. The photo below is not the one I rode in, but it's just like it, except for color. Name the make, model and year of the old horse van below. Feel free to guess. | |

| This one is a six horse Van. They also made a Tractor Trailor 9 horse model that was really cool. It's a Streamliner Deluxe. They were made in Bristol, Virginia. The cab is a '65 Chevrolet. The first one I saw was in 1959. It belonged to Joe Bales of Thomasville, N.C. whose trainer was C.A. Bobo. The next one belonged to Glenn Turner's Circle T Ranch from Texas. Steve Hill had a 9 horse model in the 60's. | |

| Streamliner Deluxe. The Chevy could be anywhere from probably a 63 to 66. I think they were still making these in the late 80's, early ninetys. I always thought they were the "cadillac" of horse haulers. I think Jumbo Boyd had one. Smitty, is that one Jumbo's? | |

| 1965 Chevy Streamliner Deluxe horse van is CORRECT! Ed, this is not Jumbo's but it does seem like he had one. I'm fuzzy on that. Some of you may remember Bob McQuerry's red streamliner van from back in the day. That's the one I rode in several times. There were several others from these parts as well..............seems like "Black Gold" stables may have had one. Maybe "Van Bert Farms" as well (?) The one you see above is just one I found on the net for sale in Missouri. They were only asking $1500 bucks for it and I think it did still run. Not sure who it belonged to or what type of horses were hauled in it. There is one not far from here that has sat parked on a hill for years now. It looks much like the one above. I don't recall seeing any of these on the road these days, but that doesn't mean there aren't a few still out there in use. I would agree that they were the Cadillac of horse haulers! Although these were 6 horse vans, I have seen 7 hauled in them, with one small horse in the middle. | |

| Yeah, you were really in the BIG time if you had one of these. Only fault to them is a lot of horses didn't like climbing up and down those loading ramps. They still make these vans and the horse racing folks use them very often. | |

| The cab of that Streamliner looks older than a 65 but I'm probably wrong on that.I'm pretty sure Escue had one and I know Black Gold had one.We had one when I was at FTT too.You were flat walkin in TALL cotton if you had a Streamliner that is for sure. Now days the haulers aren't near as classy as they used to be.David Landrum has a beautiful rig last time I was over by there.

You're right about some horses being fearful of those ramps. Every now and then you'd get a "jumper." I recall the best method for those was to give them plenty of lead rope and get out of the way! | |

| That photo was taken in 1966 at their grand opening. That location is now a used car lot. As I hear, they had good charbroiled burgers & steaks, homemade pies and cream waffles! | |
