In the picture of the Daugettet sisters, the punch bowl is the trophy for the Amateur Championship which Burt and Moonglow Jr. retired by winning in 1967,69,&70. The Tray is the trophy for the Ladies Amateur Stake which Anne and Rock A Bye Lady retired by winning in 1968, 69,&70. Anne and Rock A Bye also won in 1971.

| Funny You Should Ask!
The trophies are displayed in prominent places in Anne's house and Burt's house. Back then retiring a Celebration Trophy was a lot harder than now that you only have to win twice.
The Mrs. E.L. Burgess Challenge was put up for challenge in 1957. The winners as engraved on the trophy are:
1957 Sunday Bonnet Marcie Ann Hopkins 1958 Spurs Ace Judy Knowles 1959 Spurs Ace Judy Knowles 1960 Romeo's Merry Queen Susie Beasley 1961 Mister Sensation Deedy Decker 1962 Romeo's Merry Queen Susie Beasley 1963 Midnight Queen Bee Kay McFarland 1964 Midnight Queen Bee Kay McFarland 1965 Hill's Perfection Shirley Sharpe 1966 Mint Julip Laura M. Brandon 1967 The New Look Shirley Schliecher 1968 Rock-A-Bye Lady Ann Daugette 1969 Rock-A-Bye Lady Ann Daugette 1970 Retired by Rock-A-Bye Lady Anne Daugete
Notice that now the trophy would have been retired by Spurs Ace, Midnight Queen Bee and Romeo's Merry Queen. Also notice that the Celebration spelled Anne's name wrong twice when they engraved it. Anne had it engraved correctly for '71 when she retired it.

| I'd surely hang onto them. Wouldn't want them to get lossed like some of the other items people gave to the musuem! Sensation was just lucky getting her jacket back. I remember back then most challenge trophies had to be won three times. Some had to be by the same owner, same horse, etc. I forget how the World's Grand Champion challenge trophies were. Anyone know? | |

Luckily none of the Trophies were donated to a now defunct museum. Anne did dotate her Black Patent leather saddle that was made especially for Rock-A-Bye Lady to the museum in Lynchburg. We don't know where it is now.

| Didn't Rock A Bye wind the four year old mare class? Her record will probably never be broken. | |

| Yes Rock-A-Bye Lady won the 4 year old mare class with Charlie Martin in the irons in 1967. So she won 9 Celebrationshios. The only other mare that may be close that I can think of is Fair Warning. I know she won the 3 old mare class and 3year old championship in 1959. I think she won the aged mare class and several Juvenile championships with various riders. | |

| Spurs that Vic Thompson had specially made for Anne Daugette. Anne wore these spurs to ride Rock-A-Bye Lady. Anne says she really didn't need and rarely used them on Rock-A-Bye. Picture is the 1970 Celebration Ladies Championship. The 3rd of four for Anne and Rock-A-Bye. | |

Dutch, He was a little before my time, but he sure looked pretty good on the film I've seen of him winning the WGC. Seemed to have a really nice back end. Not sure about his colts.........seems like maybe he did sire a few good ones (?). | |
