| That Jose's Star Attraction colt is a GOOD 'UN. He looks so much like Silver Dollar as a two year old that it ain't even funny. I love the way he grabs the ground behind. Stout. | |

| I saw nuthin in that class, that excited me! If any horse in the class was a good example of a show horse, I need to re-adjust my sights, I'm sorry, but thanks for the video anyway. At one time on the reverse, the 3rd place horse showed a little something, I guess. | |

| Sadly - I have to agree with the last 2 comments. I don't see much "walk" | |

| Didn't care for Gary's horse. She went like she was stringhalted. Too hikey behind for me. The third place horse looked like there could be something there. | |

| Newt...Thanks for telling me what this new gait the TWH is doing is called. So it is "pace walking". I've seen a lot of them doing it. It doesn't sound like I am alone; when I say that I like the old gaits of flat walk and running walk over the new gait. They can't shake their head in this new gait either...of course their nose is straight out; so they don't have their head set to where they could shake it??? Also...Thanks to Big Ed too...if "stringhalted"is what it is when the horse's backend doesn't match the frontend...looks like two different horses stuck together?? Actually I think stringhalted means something else and I see what you are talking about and have to agree with your assesment.
I don't want to be critical...I know all of the big lick horses in the showring today are not this way. I'm only saying that I have seen a lot of videos where they are doing this unusual gait. I know there are still good trainers and horses out there...I know this because there are trainers still showing that were good trainers when I was showing. Unless the breed has changed; they know how to train the horse to do what comes naturally. I know one trainer in particular that I've read good things about on this board; so if he can do it; I would think the others could too??? I honestly don't understand it; so I guess the answer would be that I need to get myself to a show so I can see what is happening in person! Remember; I haven't been to a show in 35 years...Newt; you weren't even born; so; of course things have changed. I'm just not sure if ALL these changes are for the better??? | |

| Thank You; Newt! That is what I remember a good TWH looking like...that is; as you said it; a "true blue running walk". What year was this? He/She? is very nice horse and worthy of the that Championship Horseshoe that has been placed around his/her neck!!!! | |

| Last night at the Trainers Show, I saw the ultimate example of a TWH performance horse, in God Father (by Ultra Copy?). The show was pretty good, alot of horses, decent judging, but not many spectators. I asssume the above clip was of NYPD. | |

| No the above clip was THE GATEKEEPER... He's a horse we picked up green the winter of his 2yo year. We did very well with him while we had him and while he flew under the radar most of the time since we were "nobody's"...He did gain notoriety with many of the folks who had the pleasure to see him. My Dad is the man responsible for making him and he is the most naturally gifted horse I've ever seen or heard of...BAR NONE.. The problem, was that he also had the thinnest haircoat I've ever seen on a horse and if you rode him in a chain more than a couple days at a time...he'd lose all his hair behind. In the clip he's clearly showing off...but where he is truly wicked is that NASTY FLAT WALK that he has. The video was taken I think in 2007..the last year we had him before Harney's took him home to do AOT...and on this particular day, we hadn't even planned on showing him. Harney's weren't doing anything so they stopped by the barn...The horse had no leg wraps on or nothing...they asked him we had ridden him yet and Dad said, "yeah he got him out and played with him a little out in the field that morning but didn't work him." So we pulled him out and rode him....Mr. Harney remarked that he looked like he was ready to go to the show and laughed...but then everyone decided, "Hey, Why Not?" So we washed him up, Threw his "clothes" on him, Justin went and got his suit and we all headed to the horse show..... This horse could have easily been a WGC if someone of stature had him.
ps...that's me walking in front of the camera the very end of the clip.. |

| Love, love, LOVE The Gatekeeper!! I have followed him ever since the Harneys started showing him. I could never understand why everyone else didn't see what I saw in him from the beginning. He has gained following and stature now and people seem to appreciate his talent. I wondered why he wasn't shown more, but I guess the hair thing is an issue these days. I watched him warming up at a Murfreesboro show and he just blew me away. He did win his class that night and has gone on to win several other bigger shows around here. Congrats on getting him started the right way! | |

| Thanks for the kind words guys...he was alot of fun and he and Dad had such a wonderful rapport with one another... The first time we made a big splash with him was when the Breeders Association put on that Big Show in St. Louis a few years back. Rusty Hyneman had just bought that gray horse from Dr. David Ransom and was supposed to win that class up there.. Well here came Katy High on Keeper and TAGGED EM... He was a bearcat that night I promise you.. Justin first started showing him because Katy would get so nervous about riding him that she would tense up and have trouble sitting him as loose as he is. Justin has made some really nice shows with him and they have done a terrific job keeping him in his lick.. But I've heard that some have been complaining that he does too much or is too freaky looking for today's standards...which is absolutely ridiculous...because it's all him...that's just how he is...he's a freak.
My other favorite story about him is when we had him down in Tunica.. We were working him one morning, had stockings on him to keep that sand from rubbing him and some little 3's... he was on the money as usual..and several trainers came over and started watching him....Dad pulled up to me and said he's fine but pull the chains I don't wanna knock any hair off.....so I pulled them off and Keeper stepped off doing the nearly the same lick as he had with the 3's on... which wasn't a surprise to us but, all those guys standing there watching just couldn't believe it. Rodney Dick was there....and I heard him say..."Now that's a great horse"... |

| Does Katy still own part interest in The Gatekeeper? She and I used to chat occasionally on the Chat. Seems like a nice person. | |

| I will go out on a limb and predict that Titleist colt that won the Two Year Old Stud class will be a world champion in some division and at some point, if not this year.... | |

| Cadillac's Bum looked really good and I'm glad he won. This year's stakes classes have been great so far I can't wait to see what's out there for the rest of the year. | |

| Observation of Jackson Stake class, 1. Popes Cafe would have held all the people that were sitting in the stands. PITIFUL! 2. Usda didn't appear to have been there. 3. 5th place horse was crippled in a back leg. 4. Judges did tie the class correctly, altough the fifth place horse should have been excused on the next to last pass, on the reverse. | |
