Smitty, I'm thinking Dan Arnold might have built that wheel and kept it balanced every year. I think that was a much better idea than the rotation idea they have now.

Hint: This horse locked up in a side-by-side duel that drove the crowd crazy and NEARLY won this outside contender a WGC Title.............if it hadn't been for the MISTAKE.

Albert Lee Roland & Joe Fleming locked up when Joe won, can't remember Albert's horses name at the moment ...was it Mizzou's Threat? I can see the picture that was taken of them side by side. It's not Albert on the horse in this picture.

MM..I can't tell the color of this horse either. It apears as if he has had a "partial body clip"; probably because the picture was taken in the winter or early spring before he shed. We did this to Hill one year (because we were going to shows in Texas) and I swear if he didn't come out looking like a palomino! No one knew who he was!!! My Daddy told Bo that he never wanted that done to him again...he said the poor horse looked naked cover up The horse in this picture (and I sure wish I knew who it was and who the rider was too...I recognize the face  ) does appear to be a roan because his neck looks lighter than his head; but I also know that those body clips seem to turn a TWH into a horse of a different color Shocked

Good guess S61............but the rider is Don Bolinger.
Mizzou's Threat was a two-year-old in this shot.

Smitty, I was thinking of Dewey Arnold and wrote Dan instead. Dewey rode the white horse and had a tire store in Shelbyville, thus balancing the wheel was a natural for him. Dan was the blacksmith. Remember when he used to shoe horses all day in that little open building on the Celebration grounds? Does anyone know if they were related??

This is off the topic, but Hill's description of Hill's shave down reminded me of something I saw for the first time this year. Have you seen people singe the long hair off horses in the spring? Weird, but seems effective and I had never seen it or heard of it until this year, though apparently is common practice at many barns.

Yes, it's called candling and it really works. Ron used to do our horses in the spring as my gelding took months to shed off his woolies! He couldn't do my husband's mare though....she will kill you if you go near her with fire! affraid But on the other hand, she shed out really fast! Big Smile
