| I'm thinking of a place on the same side of the road as Sonny's barn. But we all know bout MY thinking. Razor - the people who own City Cafe in Murfreesboro are the ones who have reopened Pope's - they are doing justice to both the food and the pies. Deedy and I love the cheeseburgers there. | |

| I'm thinking about the place Marvin went to inbibe. But there was a joint on the side near Sonny's barn also. I never frequented either place. | |

| In the early '60 when the Celebration took off and there were 25,000 fans there. It put a big strain on the motel industry in and around Shelbyville. There were just a few local motels like the Blue Ribbon Inn. In 1960 we stayed in Nashville. the next few yearts we stayed in Murfreesboro. Then in 1964 Shelbyville came into the big time and opened the Holiday Inn. The Holiday Inn was the place to stay in Shelbyville. It was at the epicenter of the Walking Horse Industry. Everyone could be seen either staying there or Eating in the restaurant. It's the first place that I laid eyes on Anne Daugette in 1967. I was there in room 104 the night that man landed on the moon!(1969). Of course things were a lot cheaper then. Charles warren and I spent the whole summer of 1969 in room 104 for less then $500 each. Some of you out there must have great memories of the Holiday Inn that are rated "G" you can share them with us. | |

| Wasn't that sign GREAT? I do have some g rated memories from the Shelbyville Inn - some not G rated and I won't go there. Back in the day - Daddy had a "charge account" there and I was allowed to use it. My friends and I enjoyed it thoroughly. We were never hungry, always had somewhere to stay and got to go swimming whenever we wanted to. Mama finally put the quietus on that though! The "tab" did get to be kind of long at times. | |

| Bubbadog you mentioned the pool at the Holiday Inn. That's why we liked room 104. It had an unobstructed view of the bathing beauties. Come to think of it there were beauties hanging out in the parking lot too. And how about that groovey wallpaper in the rooms. | |

| Probably just rumor mill, but always heard the story that when a well known horseman died, they had numerous calls the same day wanting his room at the Holiday Inn for the Celebration dates. It was THE place to stay back then, now it seems most of the movers and shakers own 2nd homes/farms.

| I have been AWOL for a while, but I have been doing some "catch-up reading". I taught school with Loretta Noe in Bedford County. The last time I heard from her, she was still teaching. I think her family still lives at the same place. I haven't seen her in ages, but would love to visit with her. | |
