| Fire and Ice surpassed Hill's record and I am not sure about Mr. Delight. There are many morse classes to show in during F & I's time than back in the day. I think Mr. Delight showed til he was in his 20s. | |

| You're right about that, MIB. I remember in his last few seasons he was shown by a girl named Amanda Brown. Mr. had to have been in his mid 20s at that point. | |

| Did Wayne Hackney start and have Mr. Delight as a 2 yr old? Think I remember it that way and he belonged to Mr. Fritze. (sp?) | |

| Ed, Not sure if Wayne started Mr. Delight, but he did indeed have him as a young horse and he won his first World Championship with Wayne in the saddle. I think it was the two or three-year-old gelding title, which was the first of Mr. Delight's many titles. It's odd that I haven't posted any photos of Mr. Delight & Lynn Utter, but I simply have not been able to locate any. If anyone out there has any photos of Mr. Delight, feel free to post them or email them to me to post. He is certainly deserving of some recognition here. Here's a photo I found of Gen's Fire & Ice: | |

| Good answers, all..............I'm sure there's some we haven't mentioned. Here's some sisters that may be among the first to ever have won championships at the Celebration. They were the Heinz sisters from Selma, Alabama and won Juvenile, Equitation and also Saddlebred classes in the early 1950's. From The National Horseman, October, 1954: " For several years now at the National Celebration the lovely daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Heinz, Selma, Alabama, have been racking in top honors and doing it much to the delight of their interested followers. The Heinz girls show with ease and enthusiasm and their victories are hailed with equal enthusiasm by spectators everywhere. Each year they and their good contenders, such as Merry Manon, Alabama Traveler, Sensational Debutante and Born A Beauty, have ranked among the top and this Celebration was no exception. This year Rosemary Heinz on Merry Manon won the Walking horse equitation victory; she also rode Alabama Traveler to a first in the juvenile class. In the gaited division Carolyn Heinz rode the beautiful Sensational Debutante to victory in the five-gaited amateur stake and Mildred Heinz was a good third in the class for walk-trot ponies, showing Born A Beauty." | |

| Bubbadog has misplaced her spectacles...that's def Mitch Taylor at Fire & Ice's chin. I also see Newton, and Mrs. Gordon (Angelyn) Ezzell. Trying to place the older gentleman w/coat and tie. I doubt another padded horse will ever beat Fire & Ice's record. Mr. Delight was the most pushbutton horse, I've ever parked my carcass on. Sisters...Kelley and Stephanie Gordon, Michele and Rachel Mercier, originally from Oregon. Back then, the Brinkley girls from Bedford County, Gale and ?. The sisters from Pulaski, that showed a few years back Stats Man will know. The Dempsey sisters from the Boro, and Abby & Leighnea Graves. Abby showed Ice Man, when Mr. OHM trained him...ya'll know this was long before he became Mr. OHM. | |

| I'm confused about the Heinze family. Who was Mildred? Was she the mother or another sister? Who was Dorothy Heinze that showed Bald Eagle in the Ladies classes in the early 60's? There was another Heinze girl that showed in the early 60's that I assumed was Dorothy's sister. I forget her name but she had long blonde hair and showed a horse named Dawn's Jet Pilot. | |

| Sorry for the confusion, Razor. Had to do a little research on this one. The three females mentioned are all sisters. Carolyn passed on in 2010 and is survived by Mildred and Rosemary and also a brother, named Melvin Jr.
They are the children of Melvin & Elizabeth Heinz of Selma. | |

| That clears up Mildred. Does anyone know if the other Heinze girls were kin? I thought they were from Selma too. There was a Dorothy Boyer Heinze that wrote Walking Around with Walking Horses for the Saddle and Bridle Magazine. Was she the same Dorothy Heinze that showed bald Eagle? | |
