| Anybody remember a stable called Hourglass stables. I think the old man's last name was Glass. I seen them at a show in southern Kentucky back in the 1970's. | |

| That stable name rings a bell, but I can't recall the folks connected with it. | |

| Yes, I remember Mr. Glass very well. C.W. Glass I think??? Seems like his horse van had an hour glass on the side. I seem to recall him riding a sorrell mare (?) with maybe a flax mane and tail, but all that's fuzzy now. I think he was from Stanford, Ky or thereabouts. Thanks for mentioning him. I had totally forgotten all about that ole' feller and he was a good man, from what I remember. | |

| I made a brief visit to Grant County during my week at the World Equestrian Games. I drove by the old B.C. Cotten Farm. The farm looks largely intact (100 acres, although it's zoned for subdivisions.) Someone's living in the house, but the barn and fields look vacant. They also looked a bit unmaintained. I looked up the real estate listing. The listing is on this website http://www.realtyexecutivesnky.com/ But you have to scroll down pretty far to see it (4325 Dixie Highway, Dry Ridge, KY.) The list price is $1.499 million. I think it's been on the market few years now. | |

| Dutch, just curious.......what horse show in southern Ky did you attend in the 70's? I grew up in that area and showed/attended all the shows in that area in the 70's.

| I think the show was in Corbin, Kentucky around 1971 or 1972. I remember Mr. Glass's van, it did have an hour glass on it. I think he was showing a blue roan that night. | |

| Notice Silver Shadow - second in the juvenile class - I don't believe he ever won another class after we sold him. He probably missed me as much as I missed him | |

| BD...And behind Shake A Hand??? You were the only person that could really ride that horse...and he probably did miss you!! I thought he put on a better show with you in the saddle than he did when Huck showed him!! If you notice above he did win the amateur class with Herb Roberts showing him. | |

| Jim Sibley rode Major's Pleasure to 2cd in the Amateur class at that same show. This was a blue roan, if memory serves. My Dad bought my old juvenile horse from Mr. Sibley, who started him. I remember Jim as being a fine fellow and one of the best farriers to ever shoe a horse in the bluegrass state. He was the farrier for The Pusher during his golden years. | |

| Does anyone remember this mare? She was owned by Joyce Datsun of Shelbyville, Kentucky. I thought she was nice. I rode her a couple of times and she just had this slick, oily way of going that I absolutely loved. Pretty too. I would have loved to own her myself. Not sure whatever became of her. | |

Dutch, In reading your posts, I gather that you must be from Kentucky. You simply know too much! I don't know if we knew each other, but I wouldn't doubt it. See if you remember any of the following: Do you remember when: • Renfro Valley had a horse show • The Berea Horse Show was held on a football field • The Richmond Horse show was held outdoors at the fair grounds • Somerset had a horse show with only one walking horse class • Irvine had a horse show (maybe they still do???) • Brodhead, Ky hosted the Little World's Fair & Horse Show ( a BIG event!) • Stanford, Ky had a show ring right in town next to a subdivison • The Garrard County horse show was right on U.S. 27 south of Lancaster • The Laurel County horse show featured the Racking Championship as it's final class of the evening • Waynesburg, Ky had a horse show behind an Elementary School

| The thing I really remember about LaureL County was the large Saddlebred barn on Route 229. They had golden palamino Saddlebreds. Wish I could remember the name. You have probably bought stuff from me on eBay. I have been selling, buying and collecting Walking Horse and Saddlebred magazines for close to ten years. I have always loved the Walking Horse but we weren't to well off and coul not afford any really good horses and the bills that went with them. Back then a $10,000. horse was like a years salary prowning a Rolls Royce. Still love the horses and the old stories! | |

| I always liked going over to Brodhead to the Little World's Fair & Horse Show. This was once one of the biggest fairs in the state. I liked the fact that the grounds and show ring were built "back in the woods". Lots of big tall trees and shade. Never seen a show ring quite like it. You couldn't ride right on the rail...........there were tree roots growing right out in the ring. I'll bet someone else remembers that. | |

| I believe Bill still has a stable in Russell Springs, just east of town. Seems like his son Kevin is working them now. I have some very fond memories of Bill & his family. One of the best. | |

| Smitty...Glad you enjoyed these. Second picture down is Midnight Little Foot following his 2 Year Old Championship Ky Celebration win. In the picture are Mike House, ________, me, Bobby Burton, Gilbert and Evelyn Miller.
The next picture down is Lightfoot's Little Lady winning the Weanling Championship at the Ky Celebration, with her regular handler Hugh Johnson standing behind me.
The next of course is Pride's Mr. Perfect following our Ladies Gelding World Championship with Billy Dean and Dad.
And the last one includes three of my favorite gentlemen of all time, B.C. Cotton, Jumbo Boyd, and Lightfoot on the day we purchased the stallion. Old Foot produced alot of nice horses for us that went on to win in Kentucky and Tennessee.
