| Smitty...Glad you enjoyed these. Second picture down is Midnight Little Foot following his 2 Year Old Championship Ky Celebration win. In the picture are Mike House, ________, me, Bobby Burton, Gilbert and Evelyn Miller.
The next picture down is Lightfoot's Little Lady winning the Weanling Championship at the Ky Celebration, with her regular handler Hugh Johnson standing behind me.
The next of course is Pride's Mr. Perfect following our Ladies Gelding World Championship with Billy Dean and Dad.
And the last one includes three of my favorite gentlemen of all time, B.C. Cotton, Jumbo Boyd, and Lightfoot on the day we purchased the stallion. Old Foot produced alot of nice horses for us that went on to win in Kentucky and Tennessee.

| Yessir........he won a ton of blue ribbons in his long career. Bud Seaton & Donald Paschal in Tennessee and with David Welsh in Ky. Mr. Lovett trained him himself later on. I don't think I ever saw him get anything less than a red ribbon. | |

| Donald showed SOF in the stake classes down in our area around 72-74 timeframe. Won a lot of blues. Old Fury had a very long back but it did not hurt his walking!!!!!!!! I beleive Donald won the Southern Championship on SOF IN 72 OR 73. | |

Over the years, I have known quite a few horses with REALLY long backs that could walk off of their butts. I had an old Sundust gelding (the one in my icon) and his back was so long that we had my coats made longer than fashion dictated back in the day to disguise this. But ole Sam could still STICK IT!

| Miss Rhythm was another long backed hussy that could walk. So was the Ebony's Red Flirt mare that I used to show. | |

| I was reading above the topic forums and it said Kentucky Mountain Saddle Horses. I judged the Prestonburg, Ky walking Horse show about 10 years ago and they had 5 classes of these horses. I had to judge them also. Their association had three guys there that sat in the center ring and observed how I judged them. To be honest, I had never seen one before that night. Well the first class of them had 41 enteries. It was so dusty I barley could see to judge them. I judged them to the best of my ability and after the show they said I done a fine Job. Those were some fine little hosses!!!!!!!! | |

| Chap, I have a license with the United Mountain Horse Association and judge quite a few shows for them. They do have some fine hosses and also some really good folks in that organization. A good many former walking horse people are now in that breed and there is a heavy walking horse influence in the hosses. Up until a few years ago you could breed a walking hoss mare to a mountain hoss stud and register the foal as a mountain hoss. | |

- Boss,
I really don't know, but I am doubting he was raised or trained there, although it is possible he may have spent some time there in his later years. (could be a "rural myth"?) It seems to me that Mud Slide had previous owners from Alabama (Martin) before the Woods from Russellville bought him. I only remember Mud being trained by Sam Caldwell & Billy & Tim Gray in Tennessee, although there may have been others. Maybe someone else will know more.................??? I had a fellow who worked for me at Franklin, Tn that said he broke Mud Slide Slim. His name was Rick Ryan. He worked for Herman Dot Warren at the time. He said that he was a handful to break!!!

| Dot did have Mud Slide Slim for a short while before Dot's health deterioriated to the point he had to quit training. He was an awfully cute pony and that day I rode him in the hallway of the barn with just a halter and lead shank. Lots of fun!
But, no, to answer your question, Dot did not start Mud. I believe Brian and Anita Martin from Alabama were his either first or early owners, and the first time I remember seeing Mud Anita was showing him.
The Woods owned him sometime after that, and I remember showing against Mud and the girls in the late 70's.
