if he had lived he could had a big impact on the breeding part if his colts were as good as he was.

Big'n I know he could have been a great breeding stallion.
I only wish I had pictures of him when he was born but we were so busy just trying to keep him alive.
He was a very sweet horse and would always respond to you. You know some studs do not have that
great personality and are very stubborn or mean. Rowdy and "9" both have that sweet personality as well as Coin and Mister Delight.
I only wish he had lived longer.

DB, Billy raised a dark bay or black horse that he and Olivia were very proud of. For the life of me, I can't remember the name. He placed very well at the Celebration and was sold. I want to say it was something like Dark (something)???? I don't know what happened to the horse after it was sold. Olivia's dad, Mr. Bill Meek, raised some nice colts too. One was Motown Motion. I was at Olivia's place last summer and she carries on the tradition with some really nice yearlings.

Deltaboy,
I don't know the answer to Your last question, exactly, I bought them from an Antique store. I will talk to You more about it some time. There was an enormous amount of old stuff, that surfaced around Shelbyville all at once, about 15 years ago. All the stuff was from the 40's. I just got a small portion of it. But as You can see, I got some Trophies. I want to post a similar display of old & rare magazines sometime.

OGM,

Bill Meek did raise some outstanding colts [including Pride's Choice Cut], but I believe he had passed from the scene when Motown Motion came along. I believe that was all Olivia. She is an excellent horsewoman & a wonderful person. Her husband Jimmy is a top horseman & a good fellow, too. They have prepped our yearlings for the sales, halter-broken weanlings, & occasionally foaled mares for us for about the last 10 years. There is none better in the business.

I don't remember the bay or black horse to which you refer. I believe Motown Motion was out of Gold Coin mare that was out of Choice Cut's dam.

I couldn't agree more about Olivia. I need to talk to her anyway. I will try to get in touch with her this weekend and see if she knows the horse I am talking about. Yes, I think you are correct about Motion. She still has Motion's mother. The last time we talked she was telling me about one that was currently being started that she was very high on. When Olivia tells me a horse is good, I totally believe her since she rarely brags on her own stock!!

OGM...I do remember that horse and his name was Dark Question . I know Bill Bobo had him and he was black. One of the fillies out of Motown Motions dam, and by Cash's Black Jack, won 2 park pleasure WC's last year.

SB,

That is a great [& rare] picture of the horse show building at the Tenn. State Fair. I read an article recently in an old National Horseman about it burning down in 1970, just one year after the Tenn. State Fair Horse Show had been restarted. I wonder when it was built?

Also, I think the size of this building indicates that horse shows were "big-time" events in Tennessee well before the Celebration.

Isn't there one by the showgrounds that is still standing?

That barn used to be where Three Star Mall is today. I don't know about one by the fairgrounds.

Did you get the picture that I left yesterday?

For me personally, the photo of the guys sitting under the old tree in the ring stirs up many Celebration memories, like no other photo has.
